Connecting To Christ

 New Members Class - An eight-week series focusing on the basics of our faith as presented in Luther’s Small Catechism and the Bible.  Informal, non-threatening, faith and relationship building.  Led by the Pastors.  Winter classes begin January 5, 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Childcare provided upon request.

 

God’s Kids:

*       Education Ministry for 3 year olds - 6th graders.  Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings September-May.

*       3 yrs-2nd grades. Uses The Akaloo Curriculum; learn about being a disciple and following Jesus.

*       3rd – 6th grades. Uses Bible Song Curriculum; learn scripture through art, song and movement.

 

Kid’s Church:

9:00 – 10:15 a.m. Sundays - An interactive, fun-filled way to learn God’s message through the use of puppets, storytelling, and games; For 3 yr olds – 6th graders,  September-May.

*       7-8th graders meet regularly on Wednesdays 6:45-7:45 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Erika (828-9374).

*       9th Graders Choose a one-on-one faith mentor for core and elective courses throughout the year. Contact Pastor Erika (828-9374) for more information.

*       10th Graders meet for worship and service throughout the year as well as retreats. Contact Pastor Darrell (828-9374) for more info.

 

Adult Bible Study – "What does this mean?" Sunday mornings 10:15-11:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings 7:00-7:45 p.m. Led by the preaching pastor. Kid's Camp offered during these times.

 

Sarah Circle – Meets at LOL on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.  Contact Carol Blowers (829-7200) for more information.

 

Martha Circle- Meets off-site on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Contact Shirley Hansen (829-3881) for more information and location.

 

 

Connecting to Our Community

 Habitat for Humanity: Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of the international, nonprofit, Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness.  For information on current projects, contact Laurie Ziebell at the Habitat office (828-8517).

 

Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen: Lord of Life serves the second Sunday of each month from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Contact Donna Salli (282-0524) for more details.

 

Quilters: Newcomers and inexperienced quilters are welcome! Meets Thursdays mornings at 9:00 at Lord of Life (September-May).  Contact Helen Henke (825-8886) or Nancy Larson (829-5623).

 

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Knit (or crocheted) Prayer Shawls provide comfort and solace to those in need. Shawls are given to people who are chronically ill, isolated,  homebound,  have cancer, are coping with grief and loss, or simply having stressful times. Prayers and blessings are knit into every shawl.  Meets quarterly. Brainerd Lakes Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (BLAIHN):  Thirteen Brainerd Lakes Area churches provide temporary housing for homeless families with children.  Lord of Life partners with Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa as a host for one week every calendar quarter – August 30-September 6 and November 22-29.  Many volunteer positions are available during the assigned week.  Connecting to Each Other

Adult Choir - Practices every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.  Open to everyone 10th Grade on up.  For more information, contact Teresa Kingsley.

 

Book Discussion Group – Meets bimonthly Sunday evenings 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Current book is "Church, Why Bother?" by Phillip Yancey. Everyone is welcome.  Contact Ken Campbell (829-5130 or kmcampbell1@charter.net.).

 

Men’s Breakfast: All men are welcome to join every Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. at LOL for breakfast, Bible study and fellowship. For more information, contact Steve Mau (855-6900).

 

Men’s Coffee Fellowship: Meets for coffee, Bible study and fellowship Thursdays at 10 a.m. at LOL.  For more information, contact Paul Hansen (829-3881).

Caring Friends  We seek meaningful ways to accompany each other along life’s paths.  For more information, contact Bonnie Shipman (825-0339).

 

New Member Sponsors: Reach out to those who are joining LOL and walk alongside them as they build friendships, find ways to serve, grow and learn at LOL. A six month intentional connection with your sponsored family. For more information, contact Kathy Hall (828-4310).

 

Eating Disorder Support Group: Open to persons dealing with an eating disorder.  Meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm.  For more information, contact Margie Young (829-3509).

 

Faithful Mothers: Meets at LOL on Mondays at 8:30 a.m. Come to share a cup of coffee, the particular joys and struggles of motherhood, feast together on a word of hope, and find yourself washed in God’s grace. For more information, contact Tammie Benson (829-0045 or 828-9374).

 

LOLLY (Lots of Living Left Yet): For seniors (55+).  Meets at LOL on the third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m., beginning September 16, for food, fellowship and interesting programs. For more information contact Marvella Larson (828-4317) or Marlys Armstrong (828-4255).

Sr. High Youth Group: Do you ever feel like you’re paddling upstream? For 9th-12th graders. Meets Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. at LOL to have fun, explore faith, pray, serve, laugh and grow together.

 

Solo InC (Seeking out loveable others in Christ):  For singles ages 30-60+ who are looking for authentic friendships, and a greater awareness of God’s presence in singleness, with a chance to grow spiritually. For more information, contact Paul Springstead (839-3501).
