1st Communion

5th Grade

The New Testament tells us that Jesus Christ commanded Baptism and Holy Communion, the two sacraments. In the sacrament of Holy Communion, after hearing and experiencing the good news of Jesus Christ in word, prayer and song, the community receives bread and wine. The tangible presence of Christ is experienced by eating and drinking these elements.

Lord of Life offers four weeks of First Communion instruction to students and their parents during the middle of their fifth grade year. Older children are also invited to attend.  Topics include Lutheran understanding of  communion, how to receive communion and preparation of the communion bread. Our next session of First Communion classes is January 17-February 7, 2012.
